Music for The Fires was originally composed by Emily Wells for Raja Feather Kelly’s The Fires, which was commissioned by and had its world premiere at Soho Rep., New York, NY, in May 2024
This set of recordings represents original score that appeared in the play, demos made during the composition of the score, as a well as a one of the piano improvisations recorded during the score's inception.
My hope is to illuminate and further contextualize the music and the play by sharing process materials alongside the score itself.
